This has turned into a family blog post including my wife and children. I grew up with a father that raised a lot of animals, so as a child I had of different pets. Most of my life was like growing up on a farm, even though we lived in the city, on the small two acres we had, a vast number of animals. At any time we had a number of mallards, gray geese, parrots, doves, smaller birds such as finches, parakeets, canaries. There we also reptiles such as snakes and lizards, and smaller mammals, such as sugar gliders, hamsters, gerbils, ferrets, rats, mice, We even had a pet tarantula at one time.
We quickly became experts at taking care of all the animals and learned what to and what not to do quickly. Now this was a time way before the internet so we did not have all the access to information that we do now.
Now as an adult our family loves dogs and we have two, but my kids have expressed that they wanted to have more pets and we have done alot of research to see what would be a right fit for our family.
Have a look at all the information we have collected and put together to help other families as they invite a new member of their family into their home.
